Yesterday Jesse and I went exploring again and we went to the Belle Meade Plantation in Belle Meade, TN (about 6 miles west of Nashville). It was a really neat place to tour around and learn about the history there. The main part was the Belle Meade Mansion, which was built in 1853 and was home to the Harding-Jackson family for 5 generations. This family was the original owners of the Belle Meade farm. The farm was famous for breeding thoroughbred race horses. Some of the horses in this bloodline were Secretariat, Funny Cide, and Barbarro (if you keep up with horse racing, you will know the significance of those horses!). It was way neat to go on the tour and look around at all the history.

After that, we made it downtown and ate lunch at Panera Bread (yummy!).
