I needed to do another "Luke-update" post, so here it is! He is now almost 15 months old (wow!) and learning and growing like crazy! I might be slightly biased (ha ha), but I think Luke is incredibly smart! Here are some of his new developments:
- He can now say "cheese" and "cracker" along with his usual "mom" & "dad," and he tries to copy everything we say to him. It mostly just comes out in the same tone and number of syllables, but he tries so hard!
- He knows that a duck says "quack" and a lion says "roar!" (although, the his lion usually roars in a whisper because he learned that one at church when we were whispering to him. It's ok though, he can roar as quietly as he wants!)
- He loves dancing to music, spinning around in circles, and walking backward (for some reason he thinks its hilarious to walk backward!)
- He knows exactly what we mean when we say "go put it back." For example, the only thing in our kitchen that isn't child-proofed is the drawer under the oven (see picture below!) and he often gets in there and pulls out the pans and proceeds to "cook" things in them (he puts anything he can find in the pan and carries it around shaking it like he sees mom do!). I can tell him, "Luke, go put that back" and he will go put the pan away in the correct spot and close the drawer. Then he makes sure I am watching him as he proceeds to clap for himself! He also does the same thing with the TV remote, shoes, and other items he manages to find. What a smart little guy!
- When we go somewhere, I get his shoes and coat on him and ask him to get my shoes for me. He knows what ones are mine and what ones are Daddy's as he always brings me the right shoes.
- He waves bye to everyone!! Even the check-out people at the store :)
- He hates seeing Daddy leave for work...he is very attached to his Daddy and it breaks me heart every time they have to say goodbye!
- Luke is the most affectionate little boy I have ever seen, also. He loves giving tons of kisses and good tight hugs with his arms completely wrapped around our neck and his face pressed against ours! Whenever we leave Grandma & Grandpa Havens' house, he reaches out to them to give them as many kisses as he can before we walk out the door. He does the same thing when anyone comes to visit and they have to leave. He just wants to give them hugs and kisses so they wont forget him =)
- His favorite new discovery is playing outside. The few sunny days we have had this spring so far have been spent outside at Grandma's house or even just on our balcony. He loves to explore and play in the grass and look for things to climb on! I cannot wait for summer so he can be outside everyday!!
- He loves making new friends and playing with other babies! He is excited to have a new cousin in September, too!! (Congrats, Amber & Erin!)
Just getting into trouble...
